CHANGED BUT STILL STRONG
The Provincetown Theatre Company (PTC), in collaboration with Narrowland Arts, is pleased to announce a special Thanksgiving production, CHANGED BUT STILL STRONG (The September 11th Project) a series of monologues written, directed, and acted by the teen members of YARE, the Theatre Company's new youth performance troupe, and their mentors. This special performance will be held:
Saturday, November 24th at 7:00 PM
At at time when many adults are still questioning themselves on how to best explain the tragic events of September 11th to their students and children, the members of YARE have taken it upon themselves to not only process this information, but to find messages of hope and redemption mixed in the debris of tragedy and to offer hope to others. "We want to commemorate peoples lives, but also to commemorate how people cope . . . The most important part of this theatrical performance to get the message across that being upset is ok but to cherish your own life; to really celebrate what it means to be alive when we celebrate the lives of the victims of the tragedy." --Lucy Butler (age 13), Jules Glatzel (age 13) & Nola Glatzel (age 12) Each of the members of the troupe developed a character whose life was directly effected by the WTC tragedy and, through an extensive character development, and has brought that character to life. CHANGED BUT STILL STRONG was originally conceived by two of the YARE members as they glanced through the "special" pictorial editions of PEOPLE, NEWSWEEK, and TIME, however "this production would never have worked without the full participation of all of our members (Jules and Nola Glatzel, Lucy Butler, Cody Waite, Nury Geronimo, and Autumn Pitzner) and our two adult mentors, Kathe Izzo and Guy Wolf." -- YARE The show will run approximately 45 minutes. YARE (Youth Actors Research and Education) is a new program of the Provincetown Theatre Company (PTC). PTC has been in existence for 38 years, continuing Provincetown's magnificent record as a crucible of modern American theater through their development of new scripts, and providing educational resources to the community to assist theater artists in refining their craft. The PTC is committed to providing a yearround theater experience in Provincetown. The YARE program is primarily funded by a matching grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council's (MCC) YouthReach Initiative, funding collaborative grants that integrate youth into the community through the arts. This is a matching grant. It's success depends on the financial as THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE CALL: 508-487-6341 OR 508-487-8673
