Driskel Vintage Photography at the Schoolhouse Center for Art and Design in Provincetown, MA presents its second exhibition of color photographs by James Bidgood.

Creator of lush , color-drenched photographs from the sixties and seventies, Bidgood is the writer, director and photographer of the 1971 legendary cult film “Pink Narcissus,” starring Bobby Kendall as a beautiful, languorous, daydreaming Times Square hustler. The suite of signed, limited edition photographic prints was created by Bidgood from stills he shot during the seven-year production of this famous hallucinatory, erotic epic, and from original transparencies selected from the Technicolor “photoplays” he devised for magazines such as Muscleboy and The Young Physique.

Acknowledged by the photographic team Pierre et Gilles as a primary inspiration in their own development, they describe their first encounter with Bidgood’s work as “... a lightning bolt, a ‘dazzlement’: something that we would never forget and always return to.”
