| MISSION: "To provide a studio environment where creative artists and young creative artists may pursue their work free from distraction, with the support of peers, the council of inspired mentors, and access to relevant equipment." FOUNDED: Organization 1998, Studio Residency Program, Spring, 1999 LOCATION: A restored schoolhouse, in Provincetown's historic East End Gallery District, at the tip of Cape Cod. CATEGORIES: Open to all mediums excluding those which require heat, ovens, kiln, or flame. Includes acting, book art, clothing, computer (no equipment), dancers, drawing, fabric, fiber, film/video, installation, jewelry, mixed media, painting, paper art, performance, non darkroom photography, printmaking, sculpture, storytelling, and woodworking; writing including fiction, nonfiction, playwriting, poetry, screenwriting, and translation; collaborative projects, in all acceptable mediums, conceptual, interdisciplinary and multimedia arts. FACILITIES: The Schoolhouse Center houses three galleries, six working studios, a performance/recital hall, a music room, arts, programs, and special events. The Driskel Studio is a 150 sq. ft. work space open to a surrounding common workspace. It is accessible to bathroom facilities and by wheelchair.
