| Henny Garfunkel also photographs the pursuit of pleasure; this past 4-of-July weekend on a cruise ship in Provincetown harbor, she was the lone woman in a group of over 1,000 gay men who had gathered from all over the country for a circuit party- bacchanals where the quest for the perfect hairless and muscled body is superseded only by the paradoxical desire to lose oneself in a heady mixture of music and dancing.

Humor and pop culture analogies saturate this entire group of incisive portraits. Garfunkel has distinguished herself in editorial and publicity work for Paper, Elle, In Style, and Entertainment Weekly. She has recorded the famous faces at the Sundance, Toronto and Cannes Film Festivals and has been still photographer on the set of several films, including John Waters' Hairspray and Crybaby, and Todd Solondz's Happiness. | ||||||||
