THE SCHOOLHOUSE CENTER
May 24 - June 12, 2002
Opening Reception: Friday, May 24, 6 - 9p.m.
The Driskel Gallery at the Schoolhouse Center in Provincetown, MA, is
pleased to present the photo aquatints and recent acrylic paintings of Cy Fried.
A pillar of the Cape Cod artistic community, Mr. Fried continues to push the limits of his chosen medium, a 19th century, labor intensive photographic process, breathing new life into this technique with his fresh and imaginative eye. One of a kind impressionistic images of simple still lives, landscapes and architectural details, as well lushly colored, large scale abstract paintings will be on display, each style contrasting and complementing the other. Cys work manages to be both charming and sophisticated, an extremely appealing combination.
Frieds work is in the permanent collection of the Duxbury Museum, the
Provincetown Art association, the Cape Museum, and in many private collections. This is his fourth solo exhibition at the Schoolhouse Center.
