| In her current show, Deidre Portnoy exhibits a series of gelatin silver prints of the ephemeral landscapes created by the fingers of ocean waves brushing across the beach sands of Cape Cod and Oregon. These images are exquisite in their infinite variety of tones and sophisticated open compositions that defy any comprehension of scale. As delicate as veils of liquid in a Morris Louis painting, these photographs draw us into a contemplation of the details of landscapes that may disappear in less than a minute. New waves continually smooth and refigure the beach. Portnoy has exhibited her work at Harvard University, Boston University and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. She has studied photography at the Rhode Island School of Design, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Radcliffe College. | ||||||||
